How do I factory reset my Amazon Echo, Echo Show, or Echo Dot for resale?

Factory resetting your Amazon Echo or Echo Dot prior to selling is a requirement on Swappa.

To reset your 1st Generation Echo or Echo Dot device:

*Use a paper clip (or similar tool) to press and hold the Reset button. You can find the Reset button at the base of your device. After you press and hold the Reset button, the light ring on your Echo device turns orange, and then blue.

*Wait for the light ring to turn off and on again. The light ring then turns orange, and your Echo device enters setup mode and is ready for resale.

To reset your 2nd Generation Echo Dot (which has volume buttons):

*Press and hold the Microphone off and Volume down buttons at the same time until the light ring turns orange (about 20 seconds). Then light ring turns blue.

*Wait for the light ring to turn off and on again. The light ring then turns orange again, and your Echo Dot enters setup mode and is ready for resale.

To reset your Echo Show:

*Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of the Echo Show screen and select Settings.

*Select Device Options.

*Select Reset to Factory Defaults. This erases all your personal information and settings on the device and your device is ready for resale.
