Today marks the beginning of May, and that means we can now look back and see the top-selling phones for April 2020. As we always do in our “Top Selling Used Phones” post, we’ll be looking a the top ten selling phones. And, we’ll also take a look at how the April list compares to the March list.
As we often find, you’ll notice that there are some similarities between top-selling phones in March and April. The top two phones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 remain in the top two slots, but they have swapped places. The iPhone Xr moved up a few places, and the iPhone Xs also moved up one position. We are also seeing the iPhone Xs Max join the list this month sitting in the tenth position.
Both February and March had two Android phones sitting in the top ten, however, the month of April has dropped that to just one — the Samsung Galaxy S9, which is sitting in the ninth position.
Without any further ado, here are the top ten selling phones and their average selling prices.
Top selling used phones from April 2020
- Apple iPhone 7 – Average selling price: $152
- Apple iPhone 8 – Average selling price: $254
- Apple iPhone Xr – Average selling price: $447
- Apple iPhone 8 Plus – Average selling price: $331
- Apple iPhone X – Average selling price: $415
- Apple iPhone 7 Plus – Average selling price: $228
- Apple iPhone 6S – Average selling price: $101
- Apple iPhone Xs – Average selling price: $481
- Samsung Galaxy S9 – Average selling price: $259
- Apple iPhone Xs Max – Average selling price: $582
One other interesting item to note is the string of iPhone models. This top ten list includes the 6S, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, Xr, Xs, and the Xs Max. Seems the listing is just missing the first-generation iPhone SE and the 6S Plus to be a complete run of all iPhone models dating from 2015 – 2018.
Buy and sell your used phone with Swappa
Regardless of whether you are looking to buy or sell in the Swappa marketplace — this top ten list should help. The list should help sellers get an idea of which phones are in high demand, and buyers will be able to get an estimate in terms of the price they can expect to pay.
Of course, there is one important aspect to keep in mind if you are on the buying side — pricing will vary based on several factors such as the overall demand for the phone, the specs (such as internal storage), and the condition of the device. We highlighted the device condition requirements last month, and this month we want to highlight the device criteria requirements.
As a starting point, all devices must be fully functional to be listed here on Swappa, and that includes having a fully functional battery. Other highlights include having a clean ESN/IMEI that is ready for activation, no cracked glass or water damage, and no outstanding financial obligations with the carrier. You can review the full list of all device criteria requirements in our FAQ.
While this top ten list highlights the phones that are in high demand — these are far from the only phones you will find in the Swappa marketplace. And along with phones, you can also find listings for wearables, tablets, laptops, cameras, videogames, and home tech.
If you are looking to purchase a
used newish phone from the Swappa marketplace, you may also want to check out our wireless carrier and plan pages. These pages will allow you to find information on a variety of carriers, and also on the different plans, they offer.
Similar to how there is the potential of saving hundreds on newish phones — there is the potential for saving money each month on your wireless service plan.
