Today is October 1st, which means we get to take a look back and see which phones were the most popular here on Swappa for the month of September 2020. As we always do, this latest version of our “Top Selling Used Phones” post will be highlighting the top-ten selling phones for the month. And, we’ll also take a quick look at the previous month, August 2020, to see what may have changed.
The Apple iPhone continues to dominate the best selling list here on Swappa. This month, similar to last, we have the Galaxy S9 sitting alongside nine different models of the iPhone. Interestingly, we’re starting to see some older models of the iPhone drop off in favor of some newer models.
The iPhone 6S left the list, and so did the iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone Xs and the iPhone 11 Pro Max then filled those empty slots. Of course, despite seeing some newer models of the iPhone arrive on the best selling list, the top three phones remained the same month-over-month with the iPhone 8, iPhone 7, and the iPhone Xr.

Comparing the average selling prices from August to September, and we continue to see an expected pattern. As one would expect, prices drop slightly from month-to-month, and that really just means that right now is generally going to be the best time to sell your phone. Perhaps a bit more interesting is the addition of the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, which made the list with a $916 average selling price.

Whether you are looking to buy or sell in the Swappa marketplace — this top ten list should help. Sellers will be able to get an idea of which phones are in high demand, and buyers will be able to get an estimate in terms of the price they can expect to pay.
Of course, while the average selling prices are nice to see — we have to remind everyone that pricing will vary based on several factors, including the current demand for the phone, as well as specs (such as internal storage) and the device condition.
