Can I buy or sell on Swappa if I'm located outside of the US?

Swappa is primarily a US-based marketplace, so both selling and buying on Swappa is primarily limited to users in the United States. Please also note that devices purchased on Swappa should be assumed to work only on carriers in the US unless the seller specifically states otherwise. This includes devices sold as unlocked.

While Swappa have historically allowed sellers to offer optional international shipping in the past, the checkout process no longer allows for non-US addresses to be inputted when preparing to send a payment. Moving forward, buyers are now only able to support US-based shipping addresses here on Swappa.

Buyers using freight forwarding services are also required to ask sellers if they're comfortable with these kinds of shipping arrangements before making a purchase (where the comments section is available). If the seller is not informed about the use of a forwarding service before purchase, this could have a negative effect on the buyer's Swappa account standing.

If a seller is not comfortable with shipping to a freight forwarding/reshipper address and chooses to cancel the sale because the buyer did not state they are using such a service, the seller may withhold an amount equal to the PayPal Fee during the refund. This is due to the changes PayPal made in refunds to still charge a seller for the PayPal Fee.

Buyers must also use a US based financial institution to pay sellers through PayPal. This is to avoid the seller being charged an extra 1.5% in fees. If this is not done, the buyer will be responsible for paying this back to the seller BEFORE the device is shipped to the buyer. If this is not done, this could have a negative effect on the buyer's Swappa account standing.

The seller is not responsible for lost or mishandled packages once the item is deemed delivered by the courier chosen to the freight forwarding/reshipper company.

For any returns where the buyer used a freight forwarding service, the seller is not responsible for the international shipping costs to have the device returned to them.

For sellers outside the US wishing to sell a device themselves or using a shipping depot inside the US, Swappa will not approve any device for the seller.
