What Does Swappa’s One-Year Warranty Not Cover?

The warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It does not cover accidental damage or water damage, and damage from a repair that was not authorized is not covered either. Because it covers defects rather than condition, it does not extend to normal wear or to how the device looks.

Here is the full list of what is not covered:

  • Damage from misuse, water, accidents, physical abuse, or a repair that was not authorized.
  • Battery claims when the battery life is above 70 percent. Battery health is part of the device condition requirements that sellers must list.
  • Corrosion on the device.
  • Damage or failure caused by modified system software, or by changes made to the device. This includes reflashing the firmware or the startup software.
  • Damage or failure caused by interference with other electronic devices.
  • Claims that the seller sent the wrong device.
  • Items bought outside the 48 contiguous U.S. states.
  • Any loss beyond the device's original price or its replacement value, whichever is lower.
  • A lost or stolen device. The warranty covers defects only, so there is nothing to claim if the device is gone.

If you send in a device and the seller finds the problem is not covered, the seller can reject the claim and return the device to you at your cost. That shipping is prepaid by you and is capped at 5 percent of the price you paid for the device.
