When should an item be shipped after being purchased?


Unless express shipping is offered and purchased by a buyer, sellers on Swappa are expected to ship within two business days after the date a listing is purchased. The tracking number should always be shared by the seller through the "Add Shipment" button on the private sale page tied to the transaction. Swappa also advises that the tracking information be provided to PayPal as well via the transaction details page.

Here are specific examples on how the shipping time frame works:

  • If a listing is purchased on a Monday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Wednesday
  • If a listing is purchased on a Tuesday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Thursday
  • If a listing is purchased on a Wednesday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Friday
  • If a listing is purchased on a Thursday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Monday since weekends do not count as business days
  • If a listing is purchased on a Friday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Tuesday since weekends do not count as business days
  • If a listing is purchased on a Saturday or Sunday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Tuesday since weekends do not count as business days
  • If a listing is purchased on a Tuesday, but Thursday is a holiday, the seller would be required to ship and provide tracking by the end of the day on Friday

Please note that a seller is only expected to ship once they've been paid. Thus, if a buyer's payment initially fails for a sale, and they need to reattempt the payment process, the seller is only expected to ship once the payment is properly submitted. However, if a payment is held by PayPal due to temporary limitations with a seller's account, Swappa still expects them to ship within the given timeframe, as all payments on Swappa are subject to occasional limitations per PayPal's user agreement.
