Below is an overview of Chromebook modifications:

Channels

There are three channels on ChromeOS: Stable, Beta, and Dev. Chromebooks listed on Swappa must be on the Stable channel.

Developer Mode

Chromebooks listed on Swappa must have developer mode disabled and image verification turned on.

Unofficial Operating Systems

Chromebooks listed on Swappa must be running the official ChromeOS (Stable channel).

Hardware Write Protection

Currently, we are not allowing Chromebooks that have hardware write protection compromised.

This tends to require disassembling the device and removing a write protection screw.
