How is my trade-in quote calculated?
Your quote is based on six inputs: model, storage size, carrier, condition, accessories, and current resale-market data. Each Swappa Trade-In partner sets its own price, but most weigh the same things.
- Model and storage are the foundation. A 256 GB iPhone is worth more than a 64 GB version of the same model.
- Carrier matters. Unlocked devices generally fetch the highest quotes because they sell to the widest pool of buyers downstream.
- Condition is the biggest variable. Most partners use a tiered system:
- Mint or Like-New: no visible wear, no scratches, perfect screen.
- Good: light wear from normal use.
- Fair: visible scratches or dents, full functionality.
- Broken: cracked screen, dead battery, or other physical damage.
- Non-Functional: will not power on at all.
- Accessories and packaging move the price up a little. The original box, charger, and unused accessories signal a device that has been cared for. A complete set can add more than cables alone.
- Market data ties it together. Partners watch what comparable devices sell for on Swappa, on other marketplaces, and on wholesale channels. A model that drops in marketplace price sees lower trade-in offers within a week or two.
Compare offers across trade-in partners for your exact device. The same device can be priced differently because each partner has a different resale outlet.
