Bought a T-mobile phone, received a phone that had not been fully paid off with T-mobile. This phone shouldn't have been listed - Swappa requires all listings to be owned outright, thus was able to request a return more than 30 days after receiving it. The seller did send me a return label and processed it promptly, which I appreciated.
If you purchase a phone that is carrier locked, it would be wise to call the carrier to check that the phone is paid off asap after receiving it, because otherwise your IMEI, while clean now could get blacklisted at some point in the future, leaving you unable to use the phone.
Unfortunately IMEI checks are not 100% effective because original owner might only have recently broken contract and thus it hasn't been blacklisted yet.

Return & Refund Policies
PLEASE RESET THE DEVICE BEFORE RETURN. OTHERWISE WE PROCESS A 50% RESTOCKING FEE.
We will VERIFY the SERIAL / IMEI # of the device with order record.

We accept return of items within 30 days of delivery. Buyer will pay for return shipping.
Unwanted / Order by mistake will access a 15% restocking fee + initial shipping cost.
ORDER OVER 30 DAYS RETURN with NO ISSUE Found will incur up to 50% restocking fee.
Item must be returned in original condition along with all accessories.
Mismatch SERIAL/IMEI info may result in denial of your return.
Any hardware issue or damages (physical or liquid) should be reported within 7 DAYS of receipt.
Issue that's being reported after this may affect the eligibility for return.
In additional, higher restocking fee will be applied if the issue is caused by buyer's mishandling. (Up to 50% restocking fee based on condition of returned item)
Lastly, the buyer is responsible for packing and shipping the item back safely and securely. it's recommended to pack the item securely and ship with signature and/or insurance.
