Swappa is starting to sell its own, Swappa-certified mobile devices, and we are looking for an iPhone Technician and Shipping Coordinator in Kansas City to support this new program. This is a growth opportunity for the right individual as we begin to expand our direct selling efforts.
This position requires a strong enthusiasm for mobile devices and good working knowledge of modern smartphones, particularly iPhone models. This knowledge will be put to use by inspecting devices from our vendors to determine any cosmetic irregularities and using our testing systems to ensure only devices that meet our high standards are sold.
The Position: iPhone Technician and Shipping Coordinator
We’re looking for a 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM shift at our downtown KC location.
The Work
The primary functions include:

- Receiving and testing each new device that Swappa purchases utilizing phone testing software (training will be provided)
- Accurately identifying and logging items that do not meet Swappa standards for sale
- Device labeling and organization
- Printing shipping labels and packing orders for shipping
- Communicating with other Swappa employees regarding order questions as they arise
- Periodic customer communication via our email-based support system
- Monitoring device inventory and shipping supply quantities
Requirements and preferences:
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to complete repetitive tasks
- Previous repair or carrier store experience is a plus but not required
- Patient and friendly with a sense of humor
- Good communication skills, including spelling and written English
- Strong understanding of cell phone carriers and technology, including Apple and Android devices
- Reliable transportation for package drop off with mileage allowance
- You must be 21 years or older to apply
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to sit for extended lengths of time in a workspace. This employee may also be required to lift up to 25 lbs. of inventory. Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Typical Day
Mid Day
- Arrive at office in downtown Kansas City
- Prepare previous day and overnight orders for shipping
- Transport packages to USPS post office (or UPS store) to ship
- Return shipping receipt to file
- Inspect and process new inventory, check phones, prepare for sale
Afternoon
- Prepare all pending orders for shipment
