Apple is all about hardware and software integration so processor speed isn't an issue when the software was meant to run on it. You have a valid point about the warranty though.
Processor speed makes sense in purchasing Mac, Thats the reason they released with M3, M5 and M5 processor in 2016 for the same lineup with 200 and 400 price difference.
True, the difference is barely noticeable unless you're doing something intense. In conclusion this M3 version is worth more than $600.
Your's is not M3 version. Its much slower than M3. Your Processor is Core M.
M3 is on 2016 model.
