I'm concerned about scratches on the screen. I would hate that ... very light scratching is almost expected, but I would feel better with a better picture posted. Also, the screen seems very dark.... can you brighten and take another picture.

Marie, as you expect this device has light scratching throughout the device that can only be seen from the right angle and light. There are no major deep scratches on the screen as they would show up in the photograph. Screens tend to glare or get darker when photographed.
