Is it unlocked or can you unlock it for any carrier?

It's not unlocked because when I called, they needed a current Sprint account to unlock it (and I'm not a Sprint customer). However it is totally paid off so if you're a Sprint customer you should be able to get it unlocked.

If you really need it unlocked, I can talk to the guy I bought it from to try a bit harder!

Yes I need the phone unlocked because i will use it here in my country (but will ship to us, to a friend)

Romulo, my friend just requested a device unlock and Sprint said this G5 should unlock within 6-48 hours. I'll let you know once it's all unlocked!

Thanks Henry. I checked on that website and the device will work here. Maybe not the 4G/LTE but that's not a big issue. The device model is LS992, right?

How's battery life btw?

Ok cool! And yes, it is LS992.

The battery life seems pretty good (about average, similar to my year-old Galaxy S7), I'll run Accubattery now to get a health %. And remember, the battery can be really easily swapped out for a new one!

I can confirm the battery life is still good. 86% Accubattery health, and in my testing, 30 minutes of YouTube streaming drained 7%, and a full night of standby drained 6% (that's about average or just above average).

Is this G5 still locked to Sprint?

Brick, I'm working on it! Talked to Sprint and they should unlock it within the next 24 hours—I'll let you and Rômulo know once it's unlocked.

OK, Sprint has apparently unlocked it but it's not working with my T-Mobile SIM just yet! Hopefully that'll happen tomorrow, I'll drop another comment once I'm sure it's unlocked!

Nathan, indeed the fingerprint sensor is the only thing I touched! It feels perfect to me now.

And to all y'all here wondering about the unlock status, I'm still working on it. T-Mobile informed me that the phone appears locked to them (hence the invalid SIM error) so I'll be calling Sprint tonight/tomorrow to get the unlocking all sorted out. It's still good to go on Sprint currently, though!

Nathan, I guarantee that this device will work on Sprint without a problem—it's working just great with the Sprint SIM I have here! And while there is some light scratching on the rear camera glass, it doesn't show up in photos captured with the phone. Do you know how old the phone is/long it's been used and how the marks on the phone were obtained?

Chris, the phone has been in use since just a few days after the G5's release, so just over a year now. While I can't say for sure (I'm the second owner of this device, not the first), I would say that the cosmetic marks are simply from a year of use without a case on.

The rapid charger included is brand new and the case is in great condition, so that's a bonus!
