Samsung released the Galaxy S8 Active in August 2017. This model arrived as part of the Galaxy S8 lineup, which also includes the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The Active branding means the phone was built with durability in mind. The Galaxy S8 Active is MIL-STD-810G compliant and has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. This durability comes by way of an internal metal frame, and tougher exterior case materials. Outside of the added durability, the feature set includes a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED (2960 x 1440) display. Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a micro SD memory card slot, 4,000 mAh non-removable battery, and a 12MP rear-facing camera. The S8+ features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and either 4 or 6GB of RAM, making it one of the fastest devices available at the time, and still able to power through applications and games several years later. The S8+ also features a large 6.2-inch Super AMOLED with a 2960x1440 resolution and 529ppi. Rather than relying on physical navigation buttons, the S8+ makes use of its larger and taller aspect ratio screen to display on-screen Android navigation keys.
