iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd Gen 2017

The 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9” was announced in June 2017, and it retained the same overall look and feel of the 1st generation iPad Pro 12.9”. But while the look and feel remained the same, the specs received some notable improvements. For example, the 12.9” display went from Retina to Retina with ProMotion technology and True Tone. The processor chip went from the Apple A9X to the A10X Fusion chip, and the storage space doubled to a maximum of 512GB. Other feature highlights include a 7MP FaceTime HD camera on the front, a 12MP wide camera on the back, four-speaker audio, Touch ID, a Lightning connector for charging, and a Smart Connector which brought compatibility for the Apple Smart Keyboard. The 2017 iPad Pro 12.9” also supports the first-generation Apple Pencil.

iPad Mini

Apple released the iPad mini in November 2012. The iPad mini launched as a smaller version of the iPad and features a 7.9” display instead of the 9.7” display on the regular iPad. This iPad mini has an aluminum casing, weighs 0.68 pounds, and measures 7.87 x 5.3 x .28 inches. The iPad mini features a LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 and is powered by the Apple A5 chip with options for 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal storage space. The iPad mini ran iOS 6 at launch, with other features that include a 1.2MP FaceTime camera on the front, a 5MP iSight camera on the back, and a Lightning connector for charging.

iPad Air

The 1st generation iPad Air was released in November 2013, which is the same time the 4th generation iPad was released. The 1st generation iPad Air launched with iOS 7 and is powered by the Apple A7 chip, which was a step up from the Apple A6X chip that was powering the 4th generation iPad. Aside from offering more performance, the iPad Air was also touted as being thinner and lighter, with 43% narrower bezels around the 9.7” Retina display. Other key features of the 1st generation iPad Air include up to 128GB of storage space, a 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera on the front, a 5MP wide camera on the back, a Lightning connector for charging, and compatibility with Bluetooth keyboards.

iPad Pro 9.7"

The iPad Pro 9.7” was announced in March 2016, and it arrived as the first of the smaller Pro models, joining the iPad Pro 12.9” that was introduced in September 2015. This iPad Pro has a 9.7” Retina display with True Tone and is powered by the Apple A9X chip. It offers options for 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage space, and has a 5MP FaceTime HD camera on the front and a 12MP wide camera on the back. The rear camera supports Auto HDR for photos and is able to record 4K video at 30 frames per second. This model also features four-speaker audio, a Lightning connector for charging, and a home button with Touch ID for device security. The iPad Pro 9.7” is also compatible with the first-generation Apple Pencil and the Apple Smart Keyboard.

iPad Pro 12.9" 1st Gen 2015

Apple introduced the 12.9” iPad Pro in September 2015, and this model marked the beginning of the iPad Pro line. Key features touted by Apple at the launch included support for the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, as well as an “epic” 12.9” Retina display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048, a PPI of 264, and a 400 nits max brightness. The 1st generation iPad Pro 12.9 is powered by the Apple A9X chip, has options for 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage space, uses Touch ID for device security, and has a 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera on the front with an 8MP wide camera on the back. The front camera has HDR for photos and 720p HD video recording, while the back camera has HDR for photos and support for 1080p HD video recording at 30 frames per second. The 1st generation iPad Pro supports accessories such as the first generation Apple Pencil and the Apple Smart Keyboard.
