Buyers and sellers make up opposite sides of a transaction, but each side is necessary for a successful transaction. In addition to both sides being needed for a successful transaction, buyers and sellers have something else in common — they each want to know when the Galaxy Note 20 price is going to drop.

Keep reading to learn more about the Galaxy Note 20 price drop history, and discover how much each of the models in the Note 20 family is worth. And if you’re unsure which model to buy, be sure to check out our Samsung Galaxy Note Buyer’s Guide.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 price drop history

Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 20 lineup on August 5, 2020. The Galaxy Note 20 lineup is the successor to the Galaxy Note 10 lineup and includes the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

The Galaxy Note is known for having a large display, and for the S-Pen. The Galaxy Note is also known for being on the pricey side. At launch, the Galaxy Note 20 had an MSRP of $999, and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra had an MSRP of $1,299.

Because the Galaxy Note 20 lineup is the current generation of the Galaxy Note, the retail price hasn’t changed much. But if you shop for a gently used model instead of a brand-new model, you will be able to save hundreds of dollars.

Several factors affect the average sale price for a used Galaxy Note 20. The factors include market demand, the condition of the phone, and the specs, such as the amount of internal storage. The average sale price for a used smartphone tends to drop over time. You may not always notice the drop when looking from month to month, but if you look at a 3-month or 6-month window, you’ll see the pattern.

Using the 128GB Galaxy Note 20 as an example. In January 2021 the average sale price was $625. This particular model dropped to $587 the next month and stayed the same through April 2021. At that point, the price increased to $612 before it settled down at $585 for the month of June 2021.

If you were planning to buy a gently used Galaxy Note 20 in February, you would have saved a bit as compared to January. But more important than looking at the average selling price from month to month is looking at the current average selling price versus the MSRP.

The Galaxy Note 20 launched with an MSRP of $999, and now, less than a year later you can save hundreds by shopping newish instead of new. The average selling price of a Galaxy Note 20 on Swappa in June 2021 was $585, which equates to a savings of over $400.

When is the best time to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 20?

You’re always going to spend less money if you buy a gently used Galaxy Note 20 instead of a new Galaxy Note 20. Or in other words, the best time to buy a used Galaxy Note 20 is right now. Of course, market demand factors into the average selling price of a used smartphone. People often sell their phones in an effort to fund an upgrade to a newer model and this happens around the time when a new model is arriving. If you are able to buy just before or just after a new model is released, there is the possibility of buying it at a slightly lower price.

When is the best time to sell a Samsung Galaxy Note 20?

The best time to list your Galaxy Note 20 for sale is right now. Selling today means the price doesn’t have time to drop. Sticking with the 128GB Galaxy Note 20 as an example, the average sale price dropped from $612 to $585 going from May 2021 to June 2021. This accounts for a $27 decrease, which may not seem as important in the big picture. However, that $27 could be put to good use for sale-related costs such as shipping. The bottom line is that right now is the best time to sell if you are looking to get the most money for your Galaxy Note 20.

Buyers and sellers are both concerned about price drops. Buyers want the price to drop so they get a better deal, and sellers want the price to increase (or at least stay the same). Ideally, both parties will meet somewhere in the middle for a successful sale where both parties come out smiling.
