After several months, I heard from T-Mobile that the device has an unpaid balance on their end and that the device is SIM locked as a result. They told me decisively that this was the result of a scam. I don't know that it was this seller who caused the issue compared to the original owner, so I won't make this negative, but this money is now wasted.

phone in near mint condition. phone was advertised as being ready to activate with T-Mobile. T-Mobile could not
activate this phone. When I contacted the seller about this problem, the seller was generally unresponsive but eventually provided a refund after staff was involved. I wanted to exchange the device and the seller initially agreed to send a new phone but reneged and insisted on a refund. I would not repurchase from this seller.
