It seemed that the phone had possibly not been factory reset, but we were not sure. We performed a factory reset ourselves and then the setup went smoothly. Otherwise, everything is wonderful so far and we appreciate the fast shipping!
UPDATE: The seller has let us know that the phone was reset, but the initial setup had already been completed for us. If, like me, you prefer to do setup yourself, you still have that option by doing a factory reset. This explains the only question I had on the transaction, and especially considering the seller's thoughtful response, I can say "five stars!"
