I'm Interested in this. Does transferring the device off Applecare involve the documents in:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/111801
Or can it be removed and I'd add it to my own AppleID afterwards?
You should be able to just re-add applecare once this expires once signed in with your AppleID. I've done that several times.
If apple does give any pushback, i'm happy to reach out and do the transfer trough them as well.
