Was the CPU upgrade performed by apple or later on by a third party?

Thanks for asking - 'upgrade' was factory installed by Apple.
In the Apple TechSpecs - CTO is 'Configure To Order', I looked again and what I called upgrades are listed as options.
I think my wording was imprecise. I will clarify the description.
