Hi there - how long did you have this watch? Curious about it's "life" so far. Ha! I'm hoping to upgrade for triathlon training - thanks! Brittany

Hey Brittany, I had the watch for a bit over a year. There’s plenty of “life” left. I wouldn’t consider a Garmin battery life the same as you would a phone, etc. I used this watch for an ultramarathon and several other long runs and had more than enough battery. The FR965 is better suited for multi-sports. I would suggest doing some more research. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I apologize if I misunderstood what you meant by life. But overall, you’ll have no problem for your training or races with this watch.

Nothing to apologize for! Makes perfect sense. It's a good price and watch. I need to wait one more month to budget but hoping (for me) it's still here! Hoping for you that it's not, though! Cheers!

What is with all these people just commenting a low price at you. Yikes.

What’s your opinions on switching to the enduro 3 cause this price is amazing and the screen is beautiful on the 965. I’m on the fence with the enduro 3. Will I miss the amoled if I switch to the MIP? I currently rock an Apple Watch Ultra but the battery life is abismal and totally not concerned with battery life with the 965 cause anything that last longer than 24 hours that I’m getting now is amazing.

Your watch here is making my decision that much harder since the enduro 3 is double the price. Thanks for any insight on the screen differences. For context I’m training for my first Ironman 70 and my first ultra. And the Apple is simply not keeping up with my training schedule. I don’t remember to charge my watch every night. So sometimes I go days without any watch and rely on my phone for logging miles to make sure I’m training enough.

Hey Zach,

I’ll be honest, I do miss the screen on the 965. I even bought a few watch faces that looked amazing on it, but now they look a little pixelated on the Enduro 3. If I were sticking with the 965, I’d definitely recommend swapping to an elastic band since it makes it super easy to adjust for daily wear versus running.

That said, I trained for ultras with the 965 and never had issues with the battery life. The Enduro 3 obviously takes it to another level, but if you’re coming from the Apple Watch Ultra, even the 965 will feel like a huge upgrade. The biggest trade-off is really the AMOLED vs MIP screen. AMOLED is sharper and more vibrant, while MIP is better in direct sunlight and stretches battery a lot further.

Since you’re getting ready for your first Ironman 70 and an ultra, both will handle your training easily, it just depends if you want the prettier screen with the 965 or the no-compromise battery with the Enduro 3.
