When was the computer purchased from the authorized source. Apple has confirmed with me that the warranty starts on the purchase date, not the activation date.

The warranty starts when the MacBook is first activated, not on the purchase date. Since these are factory sealed and never activated, the warranty has not started yet.

No, this is the 2021 MacBook Pro 16” model with the M1 Pro chip, and it does not have the Touch Bar. Only the older Intel models (2016–2019) included the Touch Bar
