Hi, Paul. I appreciate that. This is for my daughter, who is about to start college, so I think it would be best for her to have the latest release version of the OS on the machine. I wouldn't want her to have any issues to deal with from the beta, though I am sure she will update to 26 after a couple of point updates. I will keep a device by me so that I can be ready to buy as soon as you let me know.

Totally understandable ! my son started college this year (freshman at University of Arkansas), I gave him a MacBook Air but installed the beta (I took the risk). So far, so good! BTW, this goes totally against my personal interest, and you can tell me "none of you business" but why a MacBook Pro? if she is going to need massive process capabilities, go for it (this laptop can multitask and handle really heavy duty apps) but the latest MacBook Air with M4 and 16GB of memory is more than enough for the vast majority of the cases. This is the one I bought for him.

She is going to major in computer science, so I think she will need or at least want the processing power within a year or two. She has been coding for years and has had her own 13” MBP since late 2019. We also tend to buy up in specs and then hold on to machines for what a lot of people would consider a long time. I expect that she will use this machine for all 4 years of college and then a couple past college. I actually still use a 2009 17” MBP, though only because some software I use and like didn’t get updated. But the machine still does what I need it to do. I do have newer machines also—mid 2015 15” MBP (hated it because it only had 16 GB of RAM and fan ran all the time) and an M3 Pro Max MBP (got lots of RAM and never hear any noise from it). I used to want to throw the 2015 machine against the wall when the fan would run for no good reason.

Thank you for the explanation! My only intention was to guide you, but clearly you do not need my help at all! you know what you are getting and why. Sometimes I see people in stores or even Apple stores "over" buying and make me feel bad. Clearly, she needs processing power and decent memory. My son is majoring in Political Science, meaning his use of the laptop is totally different. If I may, I think your approach is the perfect one. A lot of people buy short on specs, and you know, Macs are great, but you cannot add memory or do any upgrades post-purchase. This Mac will last the 4 years of college and past that without a doubt. First thing tomorrow morning I will reset it to factory default to reinstall the non-beta version, and get it ready to ship it to you.

If you are going to be available for a bit more tonight, would you be willing to do the price adjustment tonight? I am sitting by my machine constantly hitting refresh to make sure that I don't miss out. If you would prefer to do it tomorrow, would you mind saying about what time you think you could do it, so that I can be sure to be ready?

I will do it tomorrow (I am replying to the messages from my phone @ the movie theather, rather prefer to do the price adjustment from my computer).
