Listing approved. Thanks for using Swappa.
Hi - do you know if I can add additional AppleCare beyond the current expiration date?
I'm actually unsure. I think because I'm on an annual renewal plan it may not be transferrable. Although I've paid up until March 2026. In any case, I've adjusted the listing and the price to reflect the possibility of no AppleCare+ included. But, this computer has not left my home and I've never had an issue with it.
Spiro - I appreciate the comms. I checked and i should be able to at least use the remaining applecare. Thanks man.
Oh - can you just post a screenshot of the applecare expiration date from the computer? If you can do that, I'll grab it today.
no problem - just updated the listing with the screenshot
Thanks - to confirm: this is the M2 Max, 64GB ram, 1TB SSD - aside from the 2 scratches, everything else is cool?
If so - I'm good to go and will purchase. I checked and you should be able to transfer the applecare+ to a new owner - can we work on that offline after I pay?
Hey — I was doing a final inspection, there were some normal wear and tear specs, but i noticed a very small dent near the HDMI port (see attached photo). It’s shallow and doesn’t affect performance or port function, but I totally missed it when listing.
Just want to be transparent. I’m happy to knock $40 off the final price for the oversight on the listing. let me know if that sounds fair to you.
(I've adjusted the listing to reflect $40 off )
sounds good - as long as the HDMI cable stays in there securely we can do -$40 and move on.
But just please confirm the specs I listed above.
I just looked again on the Apple Support and it appears that you cannot transfer the renewability of the applecare - but as long as I still have it until 2026 I'm fine with it. I'll confirm that while you confirm specs. If you can add a screenshot of ABOUT THIS MAC we should be good.
"If you pay monthly or annually
If you make monthly or annual payments* for your AppleCare plan, and your plan is already linked to an Apple Account, then it can't be transferred to a new owner."
Confirming: it’s a 16-inch MacBook Pro (2023) with the M2 Max chip, 64GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.
I uploaded a photo I just took of the “About This Mac” screen (blurred part of the serial for privacy). Also re-tested the HDMI port. Everything works perfectly and the cable fits securely and the port functions as expected.
i have a call with apple at 12 noon EST - just trying to see if this can be transferred (applecare - even the remaining duration) - give me 1/2 hour or so - hoping to wrap up before lunch : )
so - got off the phone with apple - it's a bummer, but I can't even transfer the remaining applecare+ over after purchase.
I really want to make this work - but need to think about it. I've gotten burned on some past purchases that didn't have a warranty.
No problem. If it’s helpful I have a 100% feedback on eBay and have been a member there since 1999 and sold 106 items
that helps man - let's do it. just promise me you'll insure this for 2000 to cover anything that could happen thru delivery.
I'm taking your word that this thing, aside from the few scratches, is essentially mint!!
Just to clarify, I wouldn’t personally label it “mint.” It’s in excellent working condition and has been well cared for, but as noted in the updated listing, there are a few scratches and a small dent. I just want to make sure we’re aligned on expectations. I’m using Swappa’s Shipping Station, and unfortunately it doesn't look like I can insure it for more than the final sale price. Let me know if that still works for you. If you need anything else to feel confident to move forward, just let me know
I don't mind the few cosmetic things you described. My main concerns with any used laptop would be:
- screen quality (no keyboard shadows on the screen - not cracks or blurs or dead zones)
- keyboard quality - no sticky keys - performs pretty much like new.
- port quality - HDMI and Thunderbolt ports are all good and you don't lose a connection when the ports are in use (I got mega-screwed on this once).
I'm assuming these are all good to go?
Hey, I uploaded a video showing me inserting a cable into the HDMI port (might still be getting approved). You can see it takes some force. I can even slightly drag the machine by the cable, but it functions completely fine. The other ports behave similarly.
As for the keyboard, it’s over a year old and was used regularly with a silicone overlay. I just went through all the keys. None stick, nevertheless i'm not sure it will feel like a brand new keyboard
I’m not exactly sure what “keyboard shadows” are, but I looked closely at the screen and it looks how I’d personally expect for a machine this age. No dead zones or cracks.
That said, after thinking it through, I really think you’d be happier with a new or Apple Certified Refurbished machine. I totally get wanting everything to be just right, but this is a used machine, and I don’t want there to be a mismatch in expectations. It’s probably better to avoid any hassle on either end.
