Hey Dustin, would you be willing to sell the AVP for $2250! Please let me know and congrats on your kid
Hey there! Babies are awesome; congratulations! I'm hoping you can talk me out of an offer, actually, but this may be the best thing for me...
I work from home a couple days a week. I have 4x 27" monitors in the office and use them to their full potential. I also have no more space in my house for an office... the kids took it all. So I find myslef tapping away on my 16" MacBook Pro. I envisioned myself using an AVP to display virtual screens I could work on. I don't really need it for anything else. Do you have personal experience with this kind of productivity? Is AVP best out there? Should I consider a different/cheaper option? I tried an AVP in the Apple store for about an hour and the weight of the headset got to me even after that short while... I didn't have a Globular Cluster or ResMed fancy strap, so I don't know if that would help or not.
Thank you so much for the advice and guidance. Cheers, Aaron
@Aaron - Great question. This was the primary use case for which I had purchased this. If you have a Macbook with an M1 or later chip the virtual desktop capability is fantastic, especially in the "Ultrawide" setting, it's very similar to having three standard monitors side by side with no bezels between them. The AVP is by far the best experience for this on a Mac, and in a public space like on a plane it's a game changer.
That said, if the weight was bugging you in the store after a short time, I think you may have trouble. The Globular Cluster helps, but mainly by distributing the weight away from your face and toward the top of your head. The weight remains though and I would hate for you to be disappointed by that. GC does open some interesting "Open Face" options with the AVP too. Basically removing the light seal and having the AVP hang in front of you (no weight on your face). Adam Savage talks about this in some of his youtube videos if you want more info. Hope that helps!
I Love Adam! I saw the beginning of that Adam and Norm video, but then got pulled away to do parenting things. ;)
I'll circle back and see what he says. Thank you!
