Hi Robert. Is there a specific time period of when this can be unlocked? I apologize, but when I google the question, it isn't clear. As a side note, I'm looking to get a phone for my daughter, but not connect it to service for a while. I figure she can use it on wifi

Hi Erich. Metro has a 12 month unlock policy. It will unlock after 12 months automatically, meaning you don't have to have service for the full 12 months. You can definitely use on wifi or activate on Metro. If you already have metro service you can swap to this phone.

12 months from activation date. That's why I turn on and activate the phone to start the unlock clock.

Hello Brandon this phone is new, not used. I turned it on and activated it a couple weeks ago. The IMEI is cleared for a new activation.
