Full disclosure: the Sony Xperia VI is not officially sold in the US market. Consequently, US carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T will claim the phone is not fully compatible. Based on personal experience, the phone works fine with T-Mobile without hassle. However, the process to get the phone working on AT&T requires one to have a physical SIM card that comes from an activated AT&T-branded 5G-enabled phone. This phone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon and Sprint.
