I bought this phone in 2022 on launch. It has been in a case since I purchased and has had a screen protector applied the entire time. It is currently running iOS 18.
The Apple Care + has expired however, I can renew within the next 30 days.
Notes on phone:

I think (95% confidence) I can do this if AppleCare+ is active and transferable. I can also do local pickup on October 7 or 8.
Edit: If AppleCare+ is active and transferable, I can do local pickup at Starbucks at Summit Mall on Oct 7 or 8.

I contacted Apple about the Apple Care +. I bought 2 years of it when I purchased the device in 2022. It expired this month as it's been 24 months. When I try to renew it only allows for monthly. This can't be transferred.
The rep said that if another user signs into the phone and they're able to get it to prompt the user for Apple Care + then you can safely have Apple Care + for the monthly subscription.
There is just no way to know without signing into the phone.
Thanks for the reply. Just got off phone with apple. I’ll just need some basic info from you to transfer unit to me with “recently expired” but inactive AppleCare+.
Then, as you suggest: I do basic setup on phone, go to Apple Store (right there), provide necessary transfer info and then subscribe to the monthly warranty, which is what I want to do.
TL;DR: Don’t subscribe to monthly AppleCare. Warranty transfer easy with required info and Apple Store right there.

I am interested. Did they mention what the recently expired warranty transfer paper would be? I think I have an email from Apple. I could see if there is something on my account I can print. Times on Tuesday are open I can do about anytime. How are you planning to pay? I can extend the listing.

- AppleCare agreement (policy) #
- phone serial #
- proof of coverage/recently expired coverage of phone by AppleCare policy
- original sales receipt or printout of a copy of receipt for the phone
- your name, addy, email, phone number
IOW:
(1) Proof that you bought the 2-year plan and that you bought it for the phone. (2) phone sales receipt or official copy (if confirmation through email, then that’s how you confirmed) (3) your info

No problem on my end.
If you are confident you can provide all necessary warranty transfer info (per apple and my earlier post), then feel free to extend sale window to the 8th so that purchase can be done under umbrella of Swappa according to their policies.
My most important issues are:
(1) successful transfer of AppleCare+ warranty
(2) sufficient condition if phone to satisfy warranty transfer
(3) listed condition of phone
(4) Price. Original listed price is okay.
