Hi. Most recent update takes it to 17.6.1 and yes it’s completely paid off.
is it already unlocked? you can check it in, settings-general-about-carrier lock. If it says no sim restriction it means it's unlocked, if so could you upload a picture with that info?

So since I did a fresh reset I can’t get to that screen. Is there any other way to check without activating the phone?
Only with the imei, but Swappa does not allowed that info in the messages. You can initiate the phone without putting your info/appleid following this steps from the start screen. English, United States, your wifi, data continue, set up for my self, Face ID set up later, passcode options don’t use, don’t transfer anything, forgot password, setup later in settings, agree, continue, continue, enable location, set up later, Siri continue, choose for me , set up later, not now, screen time continue, don’t share with Apple, don’t share with app developers, continue. Please let me know
