Listing approved. Thanks for using Swappa.
how would you describe how your usage profile of this device? what were some of the most demanding applications you used?
what are you upgrading to may I ask? what are some of your reasons for switching?
Hi Chinarut. I used this machine as my daily driver. Mainly web browsing, MS office, and messaging apps. Really fast machine and ample storage. I would have continued using it for a long time but I switched to a MacBook Air for travel, so the Mac mini became redundant. Let me know if you have any other questions!
whoa why did you opt for 16GB & 1TB at the time? it sounds like you would have been fine w the base model! were you intending to do video editing and/or software development?
Would you consider $550? The most recent 1tb sold for $546 about 1 month ago
i absolutely would! how do we move forward from here?
and the answer to my previous question?
Chinarut: when it comes to Apple I like to go higher spec to future proof since you can't upgrade afterwards. That has always worked well for me! The M1 chip was entirely new at the time and I wasn't sure if it would perform as well as advertised. Turns out it did and I would have been fine with the base model. I am traveling right now and unfortunately can't ship until Thu morning, I hope that isn't a problem.
If you'd like to order I believe you can simply select the "Buy Now" option. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!
lol I actually thought the previous response was from you in case you were confused by my responses!
ah gotcha - thanks for being transparent. glad it worked out :)
tomorrow is fine as I need a day to complete my research to make sure the M1 is enough for what I need it for (and that I absolutely don't need to boot into Windows or Linux (I know Parallels & Asahi Linux exist)) & willing to get off the fence & buy immediately if you're willing to take $650.
just FYI: there's a combo on eBay that is 10 Gbit/512GB SDD & includes magic mouse & keyboard w Touch ID for $822.
If virtualisation or multi boot is important to you, the new Apple Silicon divices (M-series Macs and MacBooks) may not be for you. They are ARM architecture (vs Intel/AMD x86) and only support ARM based OS-es. You can get it to work, but make sure you know what you’re getting into! See: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/microsoft-allows-windows-11-apple-silicon-macs/
I based my asking price on eBay’s suggested price but am happy to negotiate. To be clear - I’m not able to ship until Thursday 7/25.
thank you for the heads up. I feel 16GB will provide a buffer for virtualization needs. been a Mac user for over 20 years now so it is dear to my heart (first Mac was a 2004 Mac mini!). dabbled back into Windows last month thanks to handheld PCs and realized they are just too half baked & find myself hitting the eject button! I've just gotten into contributing to Linux development over the last year & virtualization will help. I figure I can do what I can to get what I see working in Windows & Linux gaming world into the Mac. just so pleased to see so many developments in gaming on the Mac over the past 4 years thanks to Apple Silicon, I feel it's finally time to pull the trigger :D
The only thing I need to iron out is the form factor - I'm seriously looking at a EM780 palm sized PC. this is one of the bigger road blocks.
Yes, I'm clear you can't ship until Thu. let me know if we are supposed negotiate here or if you adjust the price & I just buy it immediately afterwards.
Awesome - glad to see people actively contributing to the Apple and Linux ecosystems! I haven't used the Mac mini for coding, but I'm sure it'll be a great fit. I enjoyed the switch to Apple Silicon and it's my preferred platform now. I wasn't familiar with EM780, that looks like a great little machine too!
This would be my first time selling on Swappa, so I'll have to figure out how to adjust price. (I bought my MacBook Air here and was very happy with the process!)
I'd be happy to accept $650, but not lower. Let me know when you decide!
great - i’ve reviewed my notes (more like a mega mindmap!) and I’ve decided - it’s a done deal!
ps. thank you for the kind acknowledgement & want you to know I’m appreciative of your support of the open source community! I’m also happy to hear the transition went well for you too and yes to Swappa! I got my iPadPro here back in 2020 & a friend had a good experience getting their AIr as well. I don’t know how the price adjustment works either - just want to make sure I’m the one that gets it ;)
I adjusted the price, you should be able to purchase it for $650 now! I'm very glad my device will have a good continuation of its life with you and I'm sure you'll love the experience. After you purchase, I will mail it to you first thing on Thursday.
