Some advantages of the Nest E over the 4th Gen:

✦ Nest Thermostat E's schedule is automatically generated based on your habits (whereas the 4th gen requires manual adjustments)
✦ Works with the Nest app or Google home app (I prefer the Nest app)
✦ Nest Thermostat E might be compatible with older or less common heating and cooling systems than the 4th gen (which some folks are really after). The E requires fewer wires (4 wires) to operate, compared to the 4th gen which usually needs 5 wires.
