If it is a new, unused computer, it comes with standard one year Apple warranty. Correct?

Hi James. I purchased the Mini on 01/15/2021 from Amazon. I never took it out of the original packing although I did break the break the plastic seal on the box. It has never been registered to my Apple ID. When I entered the serial number into the Apple Check Coverage site (https://checkcoverage.apple.com/coverage), it says "Sorry, we’re currently unable to validate your purchase date" and asks me to login to my Apple ID and enter the purchase date. I did not do that.

However, on the Apple Support Community (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253755370?sortBy=best), someone who works for an Apple reseller says that the warranty starts on the day the device is purchased from Apple or an authorized reseller. Amazon fulfilled my order from Expercom - Apple Premier Partner so I assume they reported the sale to Apple. Someone else claims that they were able to get the full warranty when they registered but I think it is safer to trust the reseller guy.
