Yes, an external microphone is included, along with a wind protector (I think it is called a "dead cat").
I used the camera relatively rarely, typically for filming from a car, or a boat, where the gimbal picture stabilization is essential. The small size of this camera also makes it very practical to carry around, compared to any other type of a camera.
