Hi Chris,
What’s the ‘Carrier Lock’ status?
Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock
I'll check when I get home. It hasn't been quite a month since I purchased. The paperwork that came with it says it will be unlocked after 60 days. However the ipad i have is already unlocked I checked with a few friends sim cards but since the iPhone is a esim I didn't check it
No problem. I’ll wait for your feedback.
Sorry for the delay it was a long day. it does say sim locked
No worries.
If you still have it after the 60day period ends, count me in
I sure hope I don't lol take it easy though brother
Lol. For you yes! Good luck!
Hi!
In regards to your phone’s SIM lock situation:
My understanding is Verizon automatically unlocks phones 60 days after the date of purchase, but only for post-pay customers who buy their phone directly from Verizon.
For customers on Verizon’s prepaid plans or those that buy a Verizon-locked phone from a retailer like Best Buy or Apple, Verizon automatically unlocks the phone 60 days after the date the phone is ACTIVATED, not the date of purchase.
You mentioned your iPad was automatically unlocked but not your phone. Could that be because you never activated the phone?
I ask because I need a phone that will work on T-Mobile. I don’t mind buying a phone and waiting for the 60 day period to run, but a phone that never unlocks would be of little use to me.
If you don’t mind me asking, what date did you purchase it? And did you ever activate it?
Thx!
Yes I believe that to be the case. I talked to Verizon and they assured me that on the 60th day after purchase that it would be unlocked automatically. A friend of mine owns a cell repair store and says it has to be activated for 60 so I went ahead and activated it to be on the safe side. I purchased on the 15 of last month however I just activated it 6 days ago.
I just got off the phone with TMobile. I gave them the IMEI and they said thatb it is fully compatible with t mobile, it is not blocked from their network, Esim compatible and can be activated right away. I'll add a picture to from their website
T-Mobile website never check lock status of the phone.
