Listing approved. Thanks for using Swappa.
The listing says you could update it to 11 Pro. But would that upgrade be lost when the device was reset, which it would have to be in order for it be "setup ready" for the purchaser? (I hope that question made sense.)
Also, just wondering: did you use the MDP/HDMI adapters with the MDP ports on the docking station? Did that work well?
Thank you!
Hello,
Great question, and totally made sense. :) After upgrading to Windows 11, I would go through the reset feature in settings which would factory reset Windows to the same version that was installed.
I did. They both worked fine, but the problem with the Amazon basics one is that if you have an ultra wide monitor, like the one I use, the picture quality isn't great. That is why I bought the black one that supports the higher resolution. I hope I answered your questions. :)
Thank you for the info. Very helpful! :)
I see the battery cycle is only 12. Can I interpret that to mean that the device was almost always plugged in, and so it didn't cycle very often? That would make sense especially if the docking station was the main power supply and was also used as the pass through to external monitors and other devices?
Thank you!
Yup, that is correct. My testing lab room (which is now a guest room) was setup with several Surfaces/docks. Not all were in use, and the ones that were had been hooked up to docking stations like this or the new dock 2. I work with a lot of different systems at my job and need to make sure I keep my skill set current. :) I still have 4 more Surface 3, 5-6 Surface 4, few Surface pros, and Surface Books to go through and figure out which ones to keep. It’s going to be a long summer. :)
Interesting. I've standardized on Surface devices for my home network. I have two Surface Pros i7 6th and 7th Gen, and one Surface Laptop 3 10th Gen i7, 15", 250Gb. They all communicate with each other and access media and archives from an ancient Windows 7 desktop on the network. I want to retire the desktop for something more modern. I'm in no rush but keep an eye on Surfaces for sale. The one you're listing here is unusual and especially with the dock and adapters, I'm tempted to buy, as when the desktop is gone, its monitor become available to extend my main Surface when at a desk, and the LCD can connect to the dock, and not one of the USB3 ports. My hesitation is that I'd like my next one to be a newer gen than the newest gen I have now. This one is nearly identical to my Surface Laptop 3, except for a smaller screen and much larger SSD. If I don't buy it, I'm sure someone will. How noticeable is the dent on the top?
No way, that is awesome! Sorry for nerding out but it is nice to talk to someone who also appreciates, and has more than one, Surface in their home. :) I completely understand. Let me update the pictures to give you a better idea. The dent looks like someone jabbed it with a pen if that helps. :) I have more Surfaces with a better processor that I might put up to sell so please check back. I have an emotional attachment with these laptops so it’s a bit difficult to part with them, but I have to.
I added 2 extra pictures that I hope will help show the size of the dent.
What is the processor clock speed of this laptop?
Hello, it's 1.30 Ghz.
