This model is technically unlocked. However, it is subject to "US Reseller Flex Policy," which means that it will lock to the first SIM card inserted into the device. Please activate the device on Verizon Wireless only. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward! Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

No, it is not under contract.
I purchased the phone at Best Buy, so it is technically "unlocked." However, iPhones sold at Best Buy will lock to the first SIM card that is inserted. If you were to insert a non-Verizon SIM (e.g. T-Mobile), the phone would become locked to T-Mobile. Hence, it is important to activate the phone using a Verizon SIM card.
As far as price goes, I don't have that much wiggle room. $770 is probably the best I can do.
@Kaitlin M -- sorry, forgot to address your question. As far as I know, it will work on Verizon prepaid service. The phone would be locked to Verizon prepaid for 60 days, then unlocked for use on any network.
