Yes the phone was never financed. I also did a check thru checkmend.com for verification for everyone interested..

The bought the phone from total wireless. It will work fine on Verizon network. As far as unlocking it would have to be done by the person that purchase the item.

To unlock a phone from a company like Total Wireless, TracFone, Straight Talk etc. you must use the phone on their network for 12 consecutive months. Then you can request an unlock code. Total Wireless uses Verizon's Network. So it is possible that this phone may work on Verizon or any Verizon MVNO but it is not guaranteed. Hope this helps.

IV. UNLOCKING POLICY

For Customers with Total Wireless Phones Capable of Being Unlocked : Total Wireless will provide an unlocking code to customers who request unlocking, provided they meet the following conditions:

Customers must request phone unlocking. Total Wireless will unlock phones of current and former Total Wireless customers without charge. Non-former customers may request unlocking, but Total Wireless may charge a reasonable fee.
The Total Wireless phone must have been activated on Total Wireless Service for no fewer than 12 months with Service Plans redeemed in no fewer than 12 months.
Customers must possess a Total Wireless phone that is not reported stolen, lost, or associated with fraudulent activity.
If a customer in good standing requesting handset unlocking is deployed as military personnel, upon provision of deployment papers, Total Wireless will honor that customer’s unlocking request.
