Would you happen to have the receipt in case I need to send to Google in the future?

Kinjal P. Seller

Don't have receipt.

Jan 24, 2020 - 09:52 AM

Any particular reason you're selling it? I ask because I returned my M3 model because the 1080P panel was crap. The default was set to like 720 or something even though the native is 1080p. When I made it native, the lack of pixel density made it look like Minecraft. Can you speak on that in regards to this 4k panel?

Also, I second the question from Jason about the receipt. I actually went through issues with Google for warranty work for the M3 because I had purchased it from eBay.

i7 version has 4k display and it's great.
I have pixel slate which is 3000x2000 but I use it as 1080p for Normal use, and when I watch YouTube 4K video, it switches automatically to 4K.

Jan 24, 2020 - 11:03 AM

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually referring to scaling rather than 4k video output. I'm not sure if putting link here works but could you try this out and tell me if scaling is pixelated?

https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/change-screen-resolution-chromebook

So you have the hardware spec (which this GO is 4k resolution) but the native resolution (set by software) is usually far lower.

That's why I tried to answer.
Native resolution of 4K on such a small screen, you won't be able to read text.
On my pixel slate, 3000x2000 which is close to 4K resolution, if i set it that, it's difficult to read text on 12 inch screen. So i set it to 1080p.
On Pixelbook Go 4K display also it works same. 1080p for normal text operations works great, fonts look great.
When I watch 4K YouTube or Netflix video, it automatically streams 4K which looks awesome.

Jan 24, 2020 - 11:54 AM

Yeah it'll be small to read, but I use all my laptops/monitors at 4k because I like coding that way. The problem I had with the M3 GO was that when I scaled it down to 1080P, the smaller(ish) letters were very pixilated. I'm just worried about the small fonts looking pixilated like it was on the M3 model even though that was its native resolution, but I think you kind of answer my question

I gotta make some financial decisions, thanks for the info, hope to see this still here tonight.

Don't want to go lower than 900.

Feb 06, 2020 - 08:59 PM

Can the battery be replaced? I stay away from my desk most of the time. I may run through 200 cycle charges easily in a year. I tried searching for battery replacement options to no avail. Did google say nothing about it when you bought it? From the research, these devices have no way of replacing batteries. Just wanted to make sure before I hit the buy now.

Feb 06, 2020 - 09:05 PM

I even called google support and response was - ‘we suggest you buy an extended warranty At the time of purchase or insurance as Pixelbooks are not repairable.’
trying to make sure if they are right.

Kinjal P. Seller
- Feb 06, 2020 - 09:10 PM

You should purchase the new one from google with extended warranty.
