Acer C720 - 128gb SSD Installed- Full Linux OS - Original Packaging

Hello, for sale is my Acer C720, this is the variant with an Intel Celeron Processor. Included is the original charger, packaging & booklet.

I upgraded the SSD to 128gb, I have also removed Chrome OS from this laptop entirely and replaced it with GalliumOS which was built specifically for Chromebooks, you can read about it here: https://galliumos.org/

This has been my daily workstation for 3.5 years, condition is great, basic wear & tear. Battery is still original, cheap to replace but I use it close to a charger so I didn't replace it.

I have loaded other Linux variants on the laptop but not all things were optimized for the hardware whether it was a weird trackpad or the shortcut keys doing nothing. It is possible to run Windows 10 on it as well but you will need to be very detailed and watch all the tutorials step by step online.

Please ask any and all questions prior to buying as there are no returns.

Hi, do you know if this will support world of warships? I'm looking for a gaming laptop and nothing fancy, thanks for your help

Hello, I would err on the side of caution and probably say not.

I would search on Google for that game and this specific model running Linux to see if anybody else has had luck.

Hello,

Can you $125? Would buy instantly. Please let me know. Thanks in advanced.

Forgot to ask, how is the battery life and can I go back, reinstall latest chromeos on it?

I could meet you in the middle at $130, I need to account for shipping and swappa fees.

The battery maxes out at 90% from it's initial capacity at this point did to its age, the 5th photo shows the breakdown. I can't put a number on how long it will last due to too many variables but it doesn't hold like a new battery at all. Batteries are easy to find on eBay from when I was looking though.

As far as reverting back to chrome OS, I do know it is possible but I do not know the exact steps and any mistake is tricky to undo, I wouldn't be able to assist with that unfortunately.

Let me know if that all works for you and if you have any other questions.

Also, as far as I know, this model can no longer get the latest version of chrome OS. Support ended for it I believe in the spring, it never bothered me since I was using it as a Linux laptop for years.

Thanks for the info. Can I run any other operating system, like Xubuntu on it?

As far as linux distros go, I ran Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS & GalliumOS on the laptop. I stuck with GalliumOS specifically because the distro was specifically built based off of ChromeOS device hardware.

I had various issues installing most distros whether it was the top media keys not being mapped, bluetooth dropping, audio not working, or the drivers for the touchpad acting weird.

Gallium feels like it was meant for the hardware which is why I stuck with it. You can check their site out but if you are an Xubuntu fan you'd probably like GalliumOS because I believe it is based off of Ubuntu but uses the XFCE desktop environment.

I did go back to distro-hopping for a week or so after using Gallium for about 2 years but nothing was as seamless so I went back.
