what do you mean by replaced in 2019

By replaced I mean, the keyboard and display unit at the Apple store. What this also gives you is a brand new battery, since the keyboard and battery come as the same unit

Hi Emma, yes, it’s under warranty until Aug 2019. As to AppleCare, unfortunately that period has expired.

However, here’s one silver living. Apple has announced that their keyboards are eligible for complete replacement for 4 years from purchase. This seems to be by far, the biggest reason for repair, that will be taken care of at Apple.

I was also wrong about the AppleCare extension - correction to a comment above.

On looking up using my serial number, it appears that the device is indeed eligible for AppleCare extension by calling Apple on phone or via chat. Please refer to the attached screenshot for more information.
