Called T-Mobile they told me to contact Apple since it is not under eip it should not be locked. Contacted Apple and they told me to contact carrier. T-Mobile the said they can’t check , only way to verify is to put a att sim in there. Looking for a friend to test SIM card with.

That is weird. IT should be T-Mobile giving you the unlock code. Do check and let me know Thanks! Great if you can screenshot with ATT sim. Sorry for the trouble

I finally got my hands on a Verizon SIM card and tested the device and even did a speed test and it works great. Faster than T-Mobile in my area, so I guess iPads purchased at the Apple store are never locked and works with any carrier.

I wasn’t able to find any friends with att but since mine is a T-Mobile model I’ve used gsm and a version sim cdma successfuly with full speed faster than my T-Mobile it should work with any carrier since it is the unlocked model based on my findings. I guess I just assumed it was the T-Mobile model since that’s what I asked for when I purchased from Apple.
