The WiFi-only D01400 version of Amazon’s Kindle Fire e-reader features a 7-in. IPS TFT-LCD display with WSVGA (1024 x 600) resolution, 16M colors, and a multitouch capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass overlay. It runs a modified version of the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system on a dual-core 1.2 GHZ TI OMAP 4430 processor with 1 GB RAM. It also features 8 GB of internal memory, with additional storage available for Amazon digital content via Amazon’s web-storage platform. Sensors include a 3-axis accelerometer and digital temperature sensor. The D01400 supports over 29 audio and screen formats and is ready to use out of the box. The Kindle D01400 is powered by a 3.7 V, 4400 mAh Li-Polymer battery that supplies a listed 9 hours of use time. Using the Kindle PowerFast charging accessory, the device can be fully charged in about 3 hours, versus about 11.5 hours from a computer via the included USB charging cable.
