Difference between trade in and selling

Is there a big difference between trading tech in and selling it? Do you get paid for both?

Selling and trading in are two different things. By trade-in I mean when a wireless provider, like T-Mobile, offers a discount on a phone in exchange for a trade-in. You would have to go to their website or talk to an agent for details. But generally, they will offer some amount off on the purchase of a new phone from them in exchange for a trade-in of a phone you already own. The phones they will accept for a trade are limited. This is one of the differences between selling and trading. You can offer for sale ???????????? phone on Swappa. You will get what the market offers. T-Mobile will only accept certain phones for trade-in and they are usually later model phones. Both selling and trading in are great! You can sell anytime on Swappa but trade-ins are only available when the wireless provider chooses. However, a trade-in can get you a new latest model phone at a great discount. They're worth looking into.
