Why is the iphone 13 price so high for used phones? New ones are now selling for $699. Why would someone buy used for over that price?

Because iPhone hold their value and the 14 pro max is in limited supply

Advertised prices through carriers are what's called 'subsidized' with some of those special prices you see, which basically means you're paying through your monthly service, indirectly.
