iPhone Xr vs iPhone 11: Which do you think is a better value?

I think they're both great -- but I'd spring for the iPhone 11.

At first glance, the iPhone Xr and iPhone 11 appear very similar. They are both the same dimensions, feature the same screen, and are each available in a wide variety of colors. They also share the same 64GB and 128GB storage options.

iPhone 11 advantages:

• Dual 12MP wide and ultra-wide rear-facing camera setup with Night mode and Deep Fusion (the iPhone Xr has a single 12MP wide camera and doesn’t support either of those camera features)
• Better battery life (up to 17 hours video playback), compared to 16 hours on the iPhone Xr
• A higher IP68 rating for water resistance (vs IP67 on the Xr). This means the iPhone 11 can be submerged in water up to 2 meters for 30 minutes, whereas the iPhone Xr is rated for up to 1 meter for 30 minutes

The iPhone 11 has a few perks that I consider a real advantage, such as the ultra-wide lens and Night Mode. That said, the iPhone Xr is still able to capture great images.

The iPhone 11 is also a year newer, which means it’ll get iOS updates for a year longer than the iPhone Xr... But with Apple typically providing 5-6 years of software updates, neither is expected to be dropped by Apple anytime soon.

Ultimately, the decision between these two models will probably come down to your personal budget. A gently used iPhone Xr is currently about $100 cheaper than a gently used iPhone 11 -- but both phones are just a fraction of their original price at the Apple Store.
