I'm looking for a cheap and reliable iPhone for my 14-year-old daughter. I was thinking iPhone SE 2020. Is it still any good? What other options should I look at?

Yes, the iPhone SE 2020 is absolutely worth buying in 2021! It's a great phone that offers iPhone 11 performance in a smaller and lighter package, making it the perfect option for anyone looking for a cheap iPhone with modern specs. And since Apple typically provides iOS software updates for 5 years, it'll be supported for quite some time.

Here are some of my favorite features:

  • Powerful A13 Bionic chip
  • iPhone 11 specs (for the most part) in a more affordable package
  • Compact design comfortably fits small hands and pockets
  • Vibrant 4.7" Retina HD display with True Tone
  • 12MP wide-angle camera with Portrait Mode and Smart HDR
  • Touch ID

That said, the iPhone SE 2020 isn't perfect -- and its biggest downfall is battery life, which Apple rates as 13 hours of video playback.

If you want something for around the same price with better battery life, consider the iPhone XR. The XR is a year older, so it's not quite as fast, but it should be fast enough to power through day-to-day apps with ease. Plus, it has a larger 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display and Apple's modern gesture-driven UI with Face ID. And most importantly, it has much better battery life (16 hours video playback according to Apple)
