Do NOT trust Consumer Electronics (aka Trade-In Tech) and do NOT expect Swappa to have your back. I purchased an iPhone 6s Plus in Oct 2017. It was locked. Once it became eligible for being unlocked, I contacted AT&T and found out that the previous owner has not paid off the phone. As a result the phone cannot be unlocked (NOTE: a prerequisite for selling a phone on Swappa is that “the device must be free from any financial obligations”). I reached out to Swappa, who referred to the seller, Consumer Electronics - CE. CE agreed to take the device back but declined to take responsibilities for claims AT&T may place against me in the future associated to this device (why it matters? The device has been associated to my AT&T account for 8 months). When I turned to Swappa, whose language is very clear when it comes to “financial obligations”, Swappa said that by taking the device back CE has fulfilled its obligations. I bought around 15 devices on Swappa. I won’t buy another one.
