It will pick up LTE for many U.S. and international carriers. I recommend this resource: https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/AKLnl/samsung-sm-g1650-galaxy-folder-2-dual-sim-td-lte#frequencies and at the top of the page it allows you to filter by carrier. I hope this helps.

did you use it with any American sim card?

I did. I used the Folder 2 with AT&T, Sprint and Boost Mobile SIMs. I had LTE with Boost Mobile and Sprint, and I had consistent 4g (no LTE) with AT&T in the Dallas area. I would download OpenSignal (iPhone/Android), LTE Discovery (Android) or Network Cell Info (Android). Any of these three apps should tell you which carrier towers are close to you, and what bands each carrier is broadcasting in your region. (Side note: my speed tests on AT&T 4g band was consistently faster than on the Sprint or Boost LTE bands. It comes down to your location and carrier infrastructure where you live.) The two SIM slots allow for carrier flexibility because each SIM slot has its own unique IMEI.
