A bit of context on the price: Apple raised prices on June 25, and the cheapest new MacBook Pro on apple.com is now $1,999 plus tax. They also dropped the 512GB option — the entry config is 1TB now. So if 512GB is enough for you (it is for most people), this is the same machine for a good bit less, with no sales tax on top.
I bought it from an authorized retailer on June 24 — the day before the price hike, as it turns out. Apple's 1-year warranty runs through June 2027, which you can verify yourself with the serial number. AppleCare+ can still be added within Apple's window.
