Used Smart Ring Buyer’s Guide: Oura vs. Galaxy Ring

Published Oct 11, 2026 • By James Bradley in Wearables
Oura, RingConn, Samsung Galaxy Ring

A smart ring is one of the trickiest used-tech buys. It fits one finger size, runs on a sealed battery nobody can replace, and its best features can depend on a subscription, a specific phone, or whether the maker still recognizes the ring. Here’s what to check before you buy a used Oura Ring, Samsung Galaxy Ring or RingConn, and what each one sells for on Swappa right now.

Quick Answer

A used smart ring is a good buy when four things check out: it’s your size, it works with your phone, it’s been factory reset, and the battery still charges and holds a charge. The Oura Ring 4 has the most listings and sold for about $138 on Swappa in October 2026, but its full features cost $5.99 a month. The Galaxy Ring has no subscription, but it needs an Android phone, ideally a Samsung Galaxy.

Used Smart Ring Prices on Swappa: Oura, Galaxy Ring and RingConn

Most used smart ring listings on Swappa are Oura Ring 4s, but every major ring has its own product page. Here’s how the rings compare as of October 11, 2026.

RingSwappa Avg. Sale PriceNew PriceSubscriptionWorks WithSizesBattery (Maker Claim)

Swappa prices are average sale prices from each ring’s price page, such as the Oura Ring 4 price page. New prices come from the makers’ US stores. Pages with only a few listings can swing a lot, so check the live listings before you buy. The math is still clear: a used Oura Ring 4 sells for about 60% less than Oura’s $349 starting price, and a used Galaxy Ring for about 70% less than its $399.99 launch price.

Smart Ring Sizing: Get Your Size Before You Shop

Sizing is where most used ring deals go wrong. A smart ring can’t be resized, and each brand uses its own sizes, so a size 9 in one ring isn’t guaranteed to fit like a size 9 in another.

  • Oura Ring 4 and Ring 4 Ceramic: sizes 4 to 15.
  • Oura Ring 5: sizes 6 to 13. Oura says Ring 5 sizing is slightly different from Ring 4 and gives it its own sizing kit, so don’t assume your Ring 4 size carries over.
  • Oura Ring Gen 3: sizes 6 to 13.
  • Samsung Galaxy Ring: launched in sizes 5 to 13. Samsung added sizes 14 and 15 in January 2025.
  • RingConn: sizes 6 to 15 for the Gen 3, and 6 to 14 for the Gen 2 and Gen 2 Air.

Oura and Samsung send a free sizing kit with a new ring order, but buying used means no kit. Borrow one from a friend who owns that brand of ring, or try on their ring if it’s the same model. Wear the sizer through a full day and night if you can, since fingers change size with heat and activity.

Once you know your size, filter by it. Swappa product pages filter by ring size, and Oura Ring 4 listings cluster in the middle sizes: size 7, size 8, size 9 and size 10 had the most listings on October 11, 2026. Sizes 14 and 15 had only a few, so large-finger buyers may need to wait for one to come up.

Oura Membership vs. No Subscription: The Real Cost of a Used Smart Ring

This is where Oura and everyone else part ways, and it changes what a used ring really costs.

Oura requires a Membership for its full features. It costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US. Without one, the Oura app shows only your Readiness, Sleep and Activity scores, the ring’s battery and your settings, according to Oura’s membership page. Detailed sleep analysis, 24/7 heart rate tracking, temperature trends, blood oxygen and stress tracking all need the Membership.

The Membership belongs to the account, not the ring. The seller’s subscription doesn’t come with the ring, so you start a new account and pay for your own. Oura says new members get one included month. That should cover a new account on a used ring, though Oura doesn’t address secondhand rings directly. If a seller mentions a lifetime membership from an early Gen 3, it stays with their account: Oura says lifetime memberships can’t be gifted, transferred or sold.

The Galaxy Ring has no subscription. Every feature is included and runs through the free Samsung Health app. RingConn also charges no subscription. Ultrahuman gives you core data for free but sells some paid add-ons it calls PowerPlugs.

Here’s what two years of ownership looks like at October 2026 Swappa prices, using Oura’s annual plan:

Used RingSwappa Avg. Sale PriceTwo Years of FeesTwo-Year Total
Oura Ring 5About $247$139.98About $387
Oura Ring 4About $138$139.98About $278
Oura Ring Gen 3About $79$139.98About $219
RingConn Gen 2About $149$0About $149
Samsung Galaxy RingAbout $115$0About $115

Over two years, Oura’s fees cost more than the used Ring 4 does. That doesn’t make Oura a bad buy, since its app is the most polished, but compare the full cost and not just the price on the listing. For how recurring costs and model age shape value across used tech, see Used Tech Resale Value: The Complete Pricing Guide.

Phone Compatibility: The Galaxy Ring Needs Android

Your phone decides which ring makes sense.

The Galaxy Ring needs an Android phone. Samsung lists Android 11 or later with at least 1.5GB of memory, plus the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health apps and a Samsung account. There’s no iPhone support. Some features need a Samsung Galaxy phone specifically:

  • Gestures: double-pinch to take a photo or dismiss an alarm needs a Galaxy phone on One UI 6.1.1 or later.
  • Find My Ring: works through Samsung Find on a Galaxy phone.
  • Energy Score and Wellness Tips: need a compatible Galaxy AI phone.

Samsung’s store FAQ describes the ring as supported on Galaxy phones, so plan on owning one. If you already wear a Samsung watch, our Used Samsung Galaxy Watch & Wear OS Buyer’s Guide covers which watches pair with which phones.

Oura and RingConn work with both iPhone and Android. Oura’s app needs iOS 16 or later, or Android 11 or later with Google Play services. RingConn lists iOS 17 or later and Android 10 or later. Because your data lives in your account, these rings keep working if you change phones. Switching Between iPhone and Android? What Happens to Your Watch and Earbuds covers the rest of your wearables.

Make Sure a Used Oura Ring Isn’t Disabled

This is the newest catch for used Oura buyers, and it’s one you can’t spot in photos. Oura’s Disabled Oura Ring page, updated October 7, 2026, says Oura may disable a ring, and a disabled ring can’t pair with the Oura app or collect new data. Oura lists four reasons:

  • The owner got a warranty replacement, and the original ring was disabled.
  • The ring is linked to a reported loss or shipping issue.
  • The ring is tied to a problem with its original purchase.
  • Oura found a hardware or safety concern.

Oura also says it can verify only rings bought from Oura or its authorized retailers, and that rings from unauthorized resellers may not qualify for activation, warranty service, support or continued use. Oura’s one-year warranty covers only the original buyer and excludes batteries, so a used Oura ring has no Oura warranty.

Before you buy, ask the seller three things: where they bought the ring, whether it was ever replaced under warranty or reported lost, and whether it was paired and syncing right before they reset it. Then pair it the day it arrives. Swappa’s listing criteria require devices to be fully functional, fully reset and free of activation locks. A ring that can’t pair doesn’t meet them, and you’re entitled to a refund if you don’t receive what was advertised. Report a problem on the sale page before you mark the sale complete.

How to Factory Reset and Unpair a Used Oura Ring or Galaxy Ring

The seller should reset the ring before shipping it. Here’s what that looks like, so you know what to ask for.

Oura Ring, per Oura’s factory reset steps:

  1. Sync the ring, then back up: tap the menu in the upper left, then Settings, then Back up all data.
  2. Take the ring off the charger and set it on a flat surface.
  3. Tap the menu, then My Devices (or tap the battery icon in the upper right), then tap Factory reset.
  4. Leave the ring still for two minutes, then remove it from the phone’s Bluetooth list.

A reset erases the data stored on the ring. Anything already synced stays in the seller’s account, so nothing personal comes with the ring.

Samsung Galaxy Ring, per Samsung: open the Galaxy Wearable app on the paired phone, tap Reset, and confirm. The ring then goes into pairing mode. If it doesn’t show up, put it in its charging case and hold the case’s Multipurpose button for about 3 seconds to start pairing mode. Samsung documents no account lock for the Galaxy Ring, but a reset deletes any health data that hasn’t synced yet.

On a reset ring, the app should walk you through setting it up as a new device. If you’re selling, How to Sell a Used Smartwatch for the Most Money covers photos and pricing, and the same steps work for rings.

The Sealed Battery: What a Used Smart Ring Buyer Should Know

Every ring in this guide has a sealed battery. Samsung says Galaxy Ring parts can’t be replaced, so a failed battery means replacing the whole ring. Oura calls its batteries consumables whose capacity declines over time, and its warranty doesn’t cover them. Neither company publishes a cycle count for when capacity drops.

The battery claims in the table above are for new rings, and Oura says battery age is one of the things that affects real-world life. A used ring will fall short of the claim, and nobody can tell you by how much without asking. Ask the seller how many days it lasts on a charge now and compare that with the claim. An Oura Ring 4 rated for 5 to 8 days that now needs charging every other day is well into its battery life.

Also look closely at the photos for cracks, bulges, or a gap between the inner shell and the outer band. In fall 2025, an owner reported a swollen Galaxy Ring that got stuck on their finger. Samsung later blamed a crack in the ring’s internal molding and said there was no wider battery safety risk, but a damaged ring isn’t one to wear.

Confirm the charger comes with the ring, too. Oura’s chargers fit only their own ring generation, and the Gen 3 charger and the Ring 4 and Ring 5 charging cases are sold by ring size. Replacements cost $59 for a Gen 3 charger and $99 for a Ring 4 or Ring 5 charging case. Which Used Smart Ring Should You Buy?

Oura Ring 4: The Safe Default for iPhone and Android

The Oura Ring 4 is the easiest used ring to find, with 59 listings on Swappa on October 11, 2026, so you can usually get your size and finish. It sells for about $138 used against $349 new, and it works with any recent iPhone or Android phone. Budget $69.99 a year for the Membership.

Oura Ring 5: The Newest, But Supply Is Thin

Oura put the Oura Ring 5 on sale on June 4, 2026. It’s a thinner ring, with 40% less volume than the Ring 4, and it’s rated for 6 to 9 days. Used ones sold for about $247 against $399 to $499 new, but only five were listed, and Ring 5 sizing differs from Ring 4. If you want the latest ring and a good fit matters more than saving money, wait for a listing in your Ring 5 size.

Oura Ring Gen 3: The Budget Pick, Still Supported

Oura no longer sells the Oura Ring Gen 3, but it still gets firmware updates (the latest arrived April 20, 2026), and Oura says new app features come to members with a Gen 3 or newer. At about $79 used, it’s the cheapest way into Oura. It came in two styles: the Gen 3 Heritage, with a flat top, and the Gen 3 Horizon, which is round all the way around. Even the newest Gen 3 is several years old, so battery questions matter most here.

Samsung Galaxy Ring: For Galaxy Phone Owners Who Don’t Want a Subscription

If you carry a Galaxy phone, the Galaxy Ring gives you every feature with no monthly fee. Samsung hasn’t announced a Galaxy Ring 2 as of October 2026, so the original is still the current model, and Samsung’s own store showed most sizes and colors out of stock on October 11. Used ones sold for about $115, but only two were listed, so it’s worth checking back.

RingConn: The Longest Battery Life With No Fee

RingConn rings skip the subscription and lead on battery claims: up to 14 days for the Gen 3, 10 to 12 days for the Gen 2, and up to 10 days for the lighter Gen 2 Air. RingConn reached a patent license with Oura in October 2025, so it keeps selling and supporting rings in the US. Supply on Swappa is thin, with a handful of Gen 2, Gen 2 Air and Gen 3 listings.

Ultrahuman Ring Air: Cheap, With a Catch

An import ban that came out of Oura’s patent case took effect in October 2025, and Ultrahuman stopped selling the Ultrahuman Ring Air new in the US. Ultrahuman told reporters at the time that existing owners would keep firmware, software and warranty support. Its redesigned Ring Pro was cleared for US import in March 2026, but it isn’t on Swappa yet. Three Ring Air listings ranged from about $46 to $133 in October 2026, so it can be a cheap ring if you accept the uncertainty.

How to Buy a Used Smart Ring on Swappa

Run through this checklist before you commit:

  1. Get sized first. Use that brand’s sizing kit, then filter listings by your size.
  2. Match the ring to your phone. Galaxy Ring needs Android and works best with a Galaxy phone. Oura and RingConn work with both.
  3. Ask about the ring’s history. For an Oura, ask where it was bought and whether it was ever replaced under warranty or reported lost.
  4. Check the battery. Ask how many days it lasts now, and look for cracks or bulges in the photos.
  5. Confirm the charger is included. Oura chargers and cases are matched to the ring’s generation, and some to its size.
  6. Pair it the day it arrives. Report any problem on the sale page before you mark the sale complete.

Real people approve Swappa listings before they go live, and the listing criteria require a battery that properly charges and discharges and a device that’s fully reset with no activation lock. Payments run through PayPal, with buyer and seller protection and dispute resolution, and Swappa’s support team is staffed by real people 24/7/365. The buyer fee is 3% and is already included in the listing price, and sellers pay 3% plus payment processing. Listing is free.

Upgrading to a Ring 5? Factory reset your old ring and sell your Oura Ring 4 on Swappa, or sell your Galaxy Ring if you’re leaving Samsung’s ecosystem. If Oura replaced your ring under warranty, don’t sell the original: Oura disables it. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a used Oura Ring without a membership?

Yes, but you only get the basics. Without an Oura Membership, the app shows your Readiness, Sleep and Activity scores, the ring’s battery and your settings. Detailed sleep analysis, heart rate tracking and the rest need a Membership, which costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US and is tied to your account, not the ring.

Does a used Galaxy Ring need a subscription?

No. The Samsung Galaxy Ring has no subscription, and the Samsung Health app is free. You do need an Android phone, and gestures, Find My Ring and Energy Score need a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Can Oura disable a used Oura Ring?

Yes. Oura says it may disable a ring that was replaced under warranty, reported lost, tied to a problem with its original purchase, or flagged for a hardware or safety concern. A disabled ring can’t pair with the Oura app. Ask the seller about the ring’s history and pair it as soon as it arrives.

How do I factory reset an Oura Ring before selling it?

Sync and back up your data first (menu, then Settings, then Back up all data). Take the ring off the charger, open My Devices from the menu or the battery icon, and tap Factory reset. Leave the ring still for two minutes, then remove it from your phone’s Bluetooth list. Your synced data stays in your Oura account.

Can the battery in a used smart ring be replaced?

No. Smart ring batteries are sealed inside the band. Samsung says Galaxy Ring parts can’t be replaced, and Oura treats its batteries as consumables that its warranty doesn’t cover. Ask how many days a used ring lasts on a charge now before you buy.

Which used smart ring is the best value?

It depends on your phone. With a Samsung Galaxy phone, the Galaxy Ring is the value pick because there’s no subscription. With an iPhone or another Android phone, a used Oura Ring 4 is the safest choice, as long as you budget for the Membership. RingConn is the no-fee pick with the longest battery life.

The Bottom Line

A used smart ring can save you a lot: a used Oura Ring 4 sells for about 60% less than new, and a used Galaxy Ring for about 70% less than its launch price. Get the size right, match the ring to your phone, make sure it’s reset and not disabled, and ask how long the battery lasts now. Then decide whether Oura’s Membership is worth it to you or whether a subscription-free Galaxy Ring or RingConn fits better.
